The end of the Line

"Can we ride the El to the end of the line?' he asked.

"Well..." I replied.

"You never let me do anything!"

Hmmmm... I thought to myself, I think this is the beginning of the end.  He's ready to have his own adventure and discover things on his own.  I truly had no interest in riding the El south to 95th street "just to see what's down there" but I knew that if I wanted to hold on a little longer to my nine year old adventure seeker I would be sitting on the subway for the afternoon.

I hindsight I wouldn't trade that adventure for anything.  You see he's leaving for overnight camp in 4 days and I feel like he's slipping so quickly through my hands.

Let's clarify one thing...I'm not a gushy, cuddly, overprotective mom.  In fact I alternate hourly between "Please don't leave for camp yet" and "Oh my God...When are you leaving?".  I'm a straight shooter who loves my son and my husband and my own life (what's leftover for myself).

I really just feel like I'm in flux and not sure what is next in life...anyone else feel like that?  Just trying to think through these next few months out loud.

CJJ will be heading off to camp in 4 days...should be a new great adventure for us all?!!!???

Wait and read!
